Research Interests

My research focuses on developing advanced materials and monitoring technologies for corrosion control in marine and atmospheric environments. I specialize in the design and optimization of low-cost weathering steels with enhanced rust layer stability for coastal-industrial applications, investigating how alloying elements such as copper, tin, phosphorus, and nickel influence long-term corrosion performance.

A significant aspect of my work involves developing in-situ electrochemical monitoring techniques using impedance spectroscopy, including innovative interdigitated electrode probes for real-time corrosion assessment without destructive testing. I study the fundamental mechanisms of atmospheric corrosion, particularly rust layer evolution under varying environmental conditions including chloride deposition and wet-dry cycles.

My expertise extends to surface treatment technologies for titanium alloys, where I have established activation and electroplating protocols to improve coating adhesion. I am currently developing two-component conductive coatings that maintain excellent electrical properties and corrosion resistance under high humidity and salinity conditions.

Recent research directions include integrating machine learning with image recognition for automated corrosion assessment, establishing correlations between indoor accelerated testing and outdoor exposure to improve prediction reliability, and developing comprehensive corrosion life prediction models that combine electrochemical data with environmental parameters for infrastructure durability forecasting.
