Museums

Liaoning Provincial Museum, the largest museum in Northeast China. The museum hold many ancient relics and artefacts, including a selection of inscriptions in Chinese and Khitan that are some of the earliest known forms of writing.

Shenyang Museum is a comprehensive museum that fully reflects the history and culture of Shenyang. The exhibition building is about 22,000 square meters and there are more than 2,535 pieces (sets) of cultural relics. Shenyang Museum will systematically show the history of human activities in Shenyang over the past 110,000 years, the 7,200-year history of human culture in Shenyang and the 2,300-year history of Shenyang’s city construction.

Attractions

Shenyang Botanical Garden is located within the Qipanshan Tourism District. With a total area of 2.46 km² (610 acres), the garden hosted the International Horticultural Exposition in 2006. Since then it has also been known as the Shenyang International Expo Garden. A variety of botanical exhibitions are held throughout the year.

Marshal Zhang’s Mansion, or Former Residence of Zhuang Zuolin and Zhang Xueliang, is located in Shenhe District in Shenyang. This square shaped mansion is the national cultural preserved site in China. Marshal Zhang’s Mansion was built in 1914 with an area of 36,000 square meters. Courtyard style mixed oriental and western features. The typical Chinese courtyard has 74 rooms totally. Shengyang Marshal Zhang’s Mansion is the largest and perfectly preserved former residence of celebrities in modern times and is reputed to be the first former residence of celebrities in Northeast China.

The Shenyang Palace Museum, was the former palace of the Later Jin dynasty and the early Qing dynasty. It was built in 1625, and the first three Qing emperors lived there from 1625 to 1644. Since the collapse of imperial rule in China, the palace has been converted to a museum that now lies in the center of Shenyang, Liaoning.

Shenyang Middle Street

Shenyang Middle Street is located in Shenhe District, Shenyang City. The length of the main street is 1,400 meters, with a total area of 1 million square meters and a total commercial area of 650,000 square meters. The newly unveiled "Shenyang Middle Street" highlights the cultural theme style of the Qing Dynasty, resurfacing the road surface of 33,000 square meters of Middle Street, transforming 78 facades of 28 buildings on the main street, and centrally protecting and renovating 8 relatively well-preserved historical buildings, such as Limin Store and Yangtze River Photo Studio, to the maximum extent preserving the historical features and characteristics of the ancient middle street.

At the same time, the introduction of diversified formats, in addition to the introduction of brand flagship stores, experience stores, the first store more than 170, but also a deep integration of "non-heritage", "cultural creation", "food" three commercial fashion elements. Visitors can not only visit the Van Gogh Star Art Museum with exotic characteristics, but also listen to the opera at the "Huilan stage" with local cultural characteristics in Northeast China, and watch an exhibition of Chinese national non-heritage masters at the Lihua Gold Museum. Taiyuan Street

Located near Shenyang Railway Station, Taiyuan Street stretches 3,950 meters and is a multifunctional commercial street in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province-integrating commerce, catering, culture and entertainment services.

The section from Zhongshan Road in the north to the city cultural palace in the south is the most prosperous commercial street in the city and is often called the Wangfujing of Shenyang.

As one of China's best-known commercial pedestrian streets, Taiyuan Street is one of the most influential fashion hubs in Northeast China. It follows the example of the Ginza shopping district in Tokyo, Japan and the business area was rebuilt in the early years of the 21st century.

Taiyuan Street is dominated by hundreds of stores, a dozen modern shopping malls and also boasts various specialty shops. It receives millions of visitors every day, with turnover exceeding 100 million yuan ($14.28 million).
